Kennel News!

A note from Amy Mikelson:

12/10/2007

Hi Everyone,

This past weekend, we saw Hole in One go to his new home. The week before, Abbott, Tonto, and Prize all went home. Yeah!

Currently, we have 49 dogs. We got 4 new dogs in this last Sunday. We got Try, Zip, Moody, and Gabby. Gabby is the sister to Buttons, and Zip is the son of Gertrude. So, more family connections at the kennel.

Spur will be going to his new home this upcoming weekend. Kristin got everything set up for him to be moved across country to Pennsylvania.

Probably, this coming Sunday, we will be getting in two more dogs, and that will take us back to 50. We also have 10 dogs on our waiting list. As we cannot have more than 50 in our kennel, that is where we will hold for a while now. I had hoped to get us down lower, but it can’t be helped.

Remember, that this Sunday is our Christmas Party out at the Maysville Community Center. We hope to see you there!

ake care and thank you again for all of your hard work!!

Amy

A few of you know this already, but this Sunday, October 21st, was the closing of the Dubuque Track and we were on tap to collect the dogs they could not get out on earlier runs to other groups, though they did a great job. All in all, they had 70 pets needing homes at the end of the season, and they got 60+ to other groups. We came home with 8. One is at my house, he is a 6 month old pup with some leg problems. The other 7 are at the kennel. We are currently standing at 50 dogs. We will have another male come into the kennel sometime at the end of the week.

We are continually working on applications and trying to get dogs adopted out, however as this is the end of the racing season in Iowa, we will unfortunately have higher numbers for a bit. I have something like 12 dogs waiting in the wings to come into the kennel yet.

We also had three returns this past week, Lindy, Granny, and Pride are back.

I know you are working hard and doing a wonderful job. Thank you so much. We are all doing this for the dogs.

Let me know if you have any questions!
